Home based business

I was told by our City Hall (League City, Tx) that a home-based business does not need a business license, but any employees for that business need to be living in that home. Does this make sense to anybody?

You better check with the county clerk as far as local business licenses. But be sure you are required to have a state business license, tax id number and a FEIN.

I think your city hall was confusing a home based business with a "multi-level marketing opportunity."

Your city may allow a home based business that is operated by a single family out of your home. Because of zoning rules and regulations, you may not have employees operating out of your home. Zoning rules here in Hawaii regulate the number of parking spaces based on the number of employees.
