Hi Debrah, May I suggest that you meet with a SCORE Counselor in your local area to discuss preparation of a business plan, funding options and other business start-up issues – it’s FREE.

Go to www.score.org and on the left hand side about 1/3 down page you will see "Find SCORE Now" and enter your zip code to find the SCORE Chapter nearest to you.
SCORE is a nonprofit organization and SBA Resource Partner with over 350 offices nationwide offering FREE business counseling. SCORE Counselors are business executives and business owners with real-world experience who volunteer their time to help aspiring entrepreneurs start new businesses and existing small business owners sustain and grow their business.

Good Luck, Ron

Hi Debrah, What type of business is it and where are you in the process? Is it just an idea at this point?

Hi, all:

THANK you for the all of the information. We're trying to start up a hazardous waste remediation company in Texas, and due to the information that I got here, we're going to be sitting down on Monday with a SCORE counsellor to talk about all of the things that we need to do to really get our business going. Something else that I'll suggest as well: Check the SBA website for SBDC in your area, and also check with the major universities in your area as well. A lot of them have business incubators that are very low cost or free.

Good luck,

Wilma

I want to thank everyone that has responded to my post. I have contacted my local SCORE and requested an appointment. I am waitng for someone to contact me back.

Claudette, I will be contacting you, as we will take all the help that we can get.

Megan, the storefront that we want to open up will consist of Avon products and their Partners. We are both currently selling Avon and would like to move to the next step. At this point we are trying to get everything lined up and ready before we address the actual start up.

Thanks
Debrah
