Seeking a Business Partner - Effective Strategies Wanted

I am a designer & consultant with several ideas to add more services and diversify my new firm. 1st year sales $200K myself. There are a couple of parties I'm interested in pursuing but am unclear how to entice them to leave their current positions and grow the business the way it can. Any ideas or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for replying Demetrius

I do have a plan and the most compelling propositions I can make to potential partners/managers are the following:
1. Competition is manageable - only one other firm to compete with in this market
2. The industry we cater to is very underserviced;
3. Our services offer clients reduced maintenance, infrastructure, and labour burdens;
4. Our clients see a tangible return on capital outlay in the first year - typically 30-45%;
5. Our design deliverables are more reliable, accurate and clear than what is being offered by other firms;
6. Sales in the form of signed contracts and proposals have been secured in 6 months - this is my first year;

I am not willing to give up majority ownership, but shareholder equity is certainly an option in addition to a base salary. Another issue I'm facing is financing - clients typically take 60-90 days to pay, regardless of the terms outlined in our proposals which puts a squeeze on cash flow, although overheads are pretty small at this point. I currently operate from my home office.

Thanks again.

Thanks Tony. The plan you listed sounds pretty strategic, and I like some of the things you listed. Explain to me what it is you do in depth,. I am a little bit confused as to what exactly your services consist of. Is Designer for what, and consultant, As far as cash flow what if you can offer some type of subscription model to your business plan, to bundle all of the savings for consumer, Please explain more of what you do thanks, and I hope this helps. God bless.

Hi Tony,

You seem to be doing many of the right things. So well done so far...

When you say you only have 1 competitor. Presumably you mean inside your current geographical focus area. I suspect that when you move outside your immediate geagraphy, you will no doubt experience additional competitors.

If I was you, I would be looking at what is your sustainable core competence, and building a growth plan around that. Is the USP "you", or is it "the technology"? (you say "more reliable, accurate and clear" is that down to you, or the technology you use?)
