Great suggestions, Ron. I know from researching information for my online marketing consulting business that Score offers a lot of support to new business owners looking to develop a marketing strategy inluding webinars and tips found at www.score.org/marketing_your_business.html. Even though I had been given all the practical knowledge to start my business during my MBA program, I still had to force myself to focus on developing a marketing plan first, before deciding where to spend my efforts. It was so tempting to just jump into certain marketing tactics, especially when so many are "free" (social media). However I benefited a great deal from writing down my goals and objectives, target audience, doing a SWOT analysis, etc. before choosing where to focus my marketing. You can also check out the marketing business resources at SBA and there are many very well-respected marketing experts in the field who are sharing their knowledge through blogging. Let me know if you want some recommendations on who to follow. - Angie Johns 11 on 10/12/2010
