Website Business Plan

Traditional business plans have a section that lays out profit projections for investors to determine how much they could expect to gain. This can be done also for products being sold online, or services being sold, but also have the SEO and traffic variables to deal with. Now, let's say it's a website that doesn't sell anything to the average user but will bring a lot of traffic such as a social network, and has B2B ties for profits. Has anyone come up with a solution to projected profits on websites such as these, or shown the potential in a different creative manner?
