Is Facebook Building Its Own Search Engine?

There has been a lot of attention lately about Facebook starting to develop its own search engine. Facebooks most recent developments, Facebook launched Timeline for brands and new advertising formats such as Reach Generator enables brands to pay more to ensure that their posts get on 75% of their fans news feed. There is no timetable for this, but Facebook tends to move quickly. And the goal here is to take advantage of the content Facebook users create every day, including likes, comments, status updates, and interactions on brand pages. Also new engineer recruitments spark speculation about Facebook developing its own search engine.

I completely agree with you. But I think no one uses Facebook to search for something, it is Google. And I personally believe that this is not a kind of threat to Google. - William Charles 51 on 4/18/2012

There is a war between FB and Google right now so they are going at each other. This was confirmed the day Google released Google+ and when FB decided not give out data they had to Google.

If FB was to add a search engine and it was a little side bar inside their FB page, it may be a winner. When this happens, expect Google to fight back. IT is going to be a tight competition from hereon but Google has the longevity and all the virtual estate to get a head start.

I wonder what Yahoo is going to do with all this ruckus.

I think the chances are so high that Facebook is opening its own search engine.
