Should I use an SEO service

Someone told me I need to hire an SEO specialist to "SEO my website." I don't even know what that means. Should I pay someone to do this whatever it is, and if so how much?

Before hiring anyone there are a lot of free resources to use and learn about SEO, and social media. There might be a lot you can do for yourself. Also becareful because there are a lot of people claiming to be so called experts that might have little to no experience.

Whether or not you should use an seo service depends on whether you can/want to do it yourself. If you have the time and patience you can learn seo yourself then go ahead. Since it takes a lot of time and is very labor intensive many people choose to hire seo specialists to do it for them.

The prices vary great deal from $700 to thousands per month. This depends on how large your website is and how many keywords you plan to target. But check their work, clients before choosing a firm to go with.

Please contact me if you have further questions.

Susan, SEO is search engine optimization which is a means of optimizing your website to be found online when people search. Now it can take months to get visible online when contracting a SEO professional or company. I can do something for free that will get you seen in your local market. I would need to know your website address to provide you with a quality strategy if you require further exposure. We can get you instant exposure and it cost a lot less than most SEO companies.

There are lot of free SEO resources out there if you have time and some skills. Before you pay anybody for SEO or pay per click, make sure you have some matrix in place so taht you know what is a visitor worth to you. Dont just do seo for the sake of it. Think it from a business perspective.

Hi Aji: Can you expand on this "matrix" idea? How does Susan create a matrix and what should it be populated with? - Hilary Cable 346 on 3/21/2011

Hi Susan,

Whether you should invest in outsourced SEO really boils down to your budget, your business goals, the location of your target market, and other factors. I often help small business owners with their onsite and offsite SEO, and usually a one hour consultation is enough to put together a checklist and get them moving in the right direction. Arthur made the most noteworthy comment here, and that pertains to time and patience. Getting search engines to fall in love with your website and content doesn't happen overnight - it takes time, months and sometimes even years for competitive keyword combinations.

SEO is not something you do one time and then abandon (although the initial surge is usually the most intensive). It needs to be a part of your businesses content creation strategy both on your website and in social media. Search engine algorithms also change regularly, so it's good to keep up-to-date. If you'd like to read some good articles on SEO I'd recommend browsing through the SEOmoz archives at http://www.seomoz.org/.

It all really depends on what type of business you have. Are you a local business, national business or maybe a network marketing business? Without a doubt, a top listing in Google can bring the targeted traffic that you need. I have found that video is a great way to market your business online without the traditional SEO. SEO isn't really all that hard. As many have already noted, it is much safer to do it in-house when possible. Here is a page that Google has posted that offers a good starting point for seo newbies: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35291

SEO stand for search engine optimization. If your website is not "set up" properly it will not show up on search engines when potential clients are typing up what are called "key words". For instance, if I am looking for meeting space I will type up banquet space, ballrooms, etc in south Florida. Good SEO practices help you rank as one of the firsts for whatever key words fit your business. I am not working in the field but I know a company that does great work. I have used them in the past and they do miracles. Email me at events@trianglehsg.com and I will be happy to give you their info.

if you do not know initially, its better to pay someone to start in the right direction. This will also help you learn and track what the are doing and measure progress.

If you need any help , let me know.i can put in touch with an offshore team of guys, MY advice will be start small budget and grow as you see progress. learn while that is going on, its always evolving.

I agree with A K about starting in the right direction. You could waste a lot of time and money doing things the wrongs way. It's kinda like this...If you want to build a house you call a contractor and if you want to market your business , you call an online marketing company... Their knowledge and experience will bring results faster and in the long run with less money out of your pocket.

As a tip, I suggest working with an online marketing company that you pay only for results. So, when that company achieves your Google Page 1 ranking you will pay for that online listing. Otherwise you pay them nothing!

If you have questions about marketing your local business please feel free to shoot me a message I'll be glad to help...

Why not. It's great idea to hire SEO Services. Just make sure about the following three stuff related to SEO or we can say the SEO can be measured through the Ranking, Traffic and Conversion. No one guarantee all these three things but you can see their efforts if you find improvement in all this components eventually. It's not a one day job, you should keep patience to see the outcome of the SEO services providers.

It's not as hard as you'd think to do yourself.

Of course, it's always a budget thing, sometimes it's easier to hire someone else to do it, no matter how well you know your stuff.

If you want people to see your site than yes. It's as simple of an answer as that. But doing it effectively is the part where a lot of creativity is mixed with a lot of analytical science. We do a lot of it and get folks from non-existant to first page on Google in a few short months. You can see some of our clients at http://www.pgriffithcreative.com

Getting a good SEO company can really help improve your site visibility. The downside is that the quality of SEO companies and individuals varies greatly. Look for recommendations and a proven track record.

Also, find out HOW they will improve your site visibility. Run away from any SEO firm that uses article spinning and spam bots (Black Hat SEO) to get links to your website, you might get traffic in the short terms but it will damage your website reputation in the long run. You could even get banned or at least punished by the search engines

Guys you might have some idea on Search Engine Optimization based on the reading in the internet articles. The truth it doing SEO takes time and it will required lot of resources like the SEO company do.

In one site alone you need 5 to 10K back links. Where are you going to get that links. No once you got on the top of ranking, you need to maintain that rank otherwise competitor who are active in SEO will bring you down.

The best solution is get a professional home based SEO specialist. You will not pay tax neither benefits. Price will be $350 per month you need to wait 2 to 3 months. In the first 2 weeks alone you will see the change in ranking. However since there are many keywords in any products you can expect 1 year full service. Homebased Filipino Specialist

Brandon Downs Responded on 11/13/2011

No Lance.... no. You're wrong. Very wrong! Doesn't take 5k or 10k - links... thats how idiots think.

You're just here to build another link to your SEO site (or clients site) just like the other two spammers - @Jonathan Trott and @Kyle Bennet.

Admins, please remove the links build in the last three threads (they are spam).

Be carefull when chosing so called seo experts, you must know they are here to make money, not to help you. So i guess in many times its best to do stuff on your own.

This for example is my attempt to rank high for keyword surt10000xlt

    YouTube
;feature=relmfu
Of course videos are always helpfull

The target website in this case was http://surt10000xlt.com
You can see i pusted it into top10 on google
