Interesting A/B test on effectiveness of email marketing templates

A colleague pointed this out to me and I thought it was really interesting:

In this A/B test, Salesforce.com split its list between two different email templates, both offering the same whitepaper. One got a 25.8% higher click-through rate than the other. Which one and why? Go to the site, take the poll, see if you get it right.

So what do you think is better about the one with the higher CTR?

I got it right. Call to action button placed at the eyes natural starting spot (top left for us westerners) is the key.

Would have been a more controlled test if they had only changed one element instead of the whole design.
