Jon Harris posted a new Looking For Investors Or Partners thread on 2/16/2012

What do you think of our site?

Hey everyone, I appreaciate the help of the people of the website along the way.

Would love to get your OPINION on what can be improved our soon to launch redeveloped site.

I didn't want to post it on facebook yet since that is too public, however I knew since everyone is enttrepreneurial here, it would be fine.

Note there are a few places that I know are in error, such as the chapter previews where it is all duplicates (will be fixed soon).

Wishlist:

1. More white space at the bottom of the homepage. I feel like falling into the abyss. Lol.

2. I don't know. Maybe cut the extra piece dangling along the bottom left corner - gives me the impression of being incomplete.

3. Always check spellings. One occurrence could be disastrous. Did you mean, easier?

4. Preferably some space between the two:

Do you wish cooking was [eaiser],
without guess work?
Want to occasionally save money
and eat healthier with (fast) home
cooking?

Preferred:

Do you wish cooking was eaiser,
without guess work?

Want to occasionally save money
and eat healthier with (fast) home
cooking?

You can still appear stylish without sacrificing the basic rules in writing. Or just use a different font for the second if you can't help it. It's all about "Space," honey. :) Or maybe it's just me, so never mind.

Other than these, your site looks terrific. Did you write the book?

Hi Jon,

I'd revisit the following copy:

"We all know it's tough to decide what a good gift to get a man is. When he was younger, you could've settled for a simple video game or CD (Yes, CD).Now you wonder if he'll be able to use your gift, let alone like it. The Man's Cookbook is something practical and thoughtful, showing the recipient how much you care, while making him subtly realize that eating fast food everyday will eventually kill you."

How about this?

"You're probably scrathing your head trying to figure out what to gift that special man in your life. Well, step away from the grooming kit and put down that gift card. The Man's Cookbook is a thoughtful and pratical gift that shows him how much you care. Hey, he may have played that video game you got him for a week and listened to that greatest hits CD for a month, but he's gotta eat for the rest of his life! Help him help himself."

I love that you integrated a clip for visitors to watch. It's a great way to get the visitors to relax and have a quick introduction to the product. When the clip finished, I felt compelled to explore the site more - great transition.

I agree with Marciela in terms of rephrasing the paragraph.

Love the integration of FB updates.

this is a very good site where you can share with people my experiences and thoughts, it would be nice to have and make it a lot lingual, as international business is also a very good direction. sorry for the automatic translation of texts

Jessica, Marciela, Andra, and Jury: I'd like to personally thank each of you for taking the time to review mys ite and write your suggestions; I'm sure you are busy but this helps us a lot.

I am going to forward these on to our design team, and see what can be fixed.

Jessica - good call on the homepage typo, and I have been thinking the same thing about the heading sentences not having enough space. Thanks for the compliment, and yes we are the authors of he book and "practical cooking" start up company.

Andra - VERY good to hear that the video is effective. We spent a lot of money and preparation securing those interviews.

Marciela - interesting suggestion for the change in paragraph. Let me think about that. What lead you to change it - does the new paragraph speak more to you?

Jury - I appologie it was a little hard to read what you wrote (i know - translation) but are suggesting we try to make the site available in alternate languages?

By the way we are also looking for an editor in chief to join our team. We have a team of chefs who will be writing a weekly column on our website, as well as providing content for other top websites we are partnering with. This is an equity position.
