One thing I would find helpful, is to be able to just chat/email people without having to partner with the person first.

Sometimes I like to check out someone who has contacted me, especially if they say they are investors and profile may not be complete. It would really help if, when we see someone who may have already dealt with the person or group, we would be able to contact the individual without having to partner first, just to ask their opinion after their own dealings. It could really help weed out the real investors from the fakes and save others from precious time wasted.

Just a thought.

It would also be helpful if the limit on emails was lifted or at least a bit higher.

Ummm... a few days after I wrote this comment (and called out a scammer on another forum), I got an email saying there was a new posting here. I hit the link, and the same two posts are here, with nothing new. I then hit the name/link of the poster to show me the profile of the "person" who supposidly posted the comment, and it took me to my own profile.

What is going on?

Hi Kim: It could be that we deleted a post because it was spam or suspended an account. You would have been taken to your own profile in that instance (instead of getting a 404 error message--that page doesn't exist). I zap a lot of spam (although it is getting better) so you may get those messages that lead nowhere from time to time. I apologize for the inconvenience!

Hi Hilary,Ok. I feel better on that. I thought maybe someone got into my account. - Kim Pezza 86 on 1/9/2012

I get this every day! So if I'm reading this post right, there is someone spamming my posts that you are removing every day?? It was once or twice a week, but now I get one a day at least. I think there may be something more to this. Otherwise you're saying every user replying to me through every forum post I've made is a spammer.... - Jessica Fitzsimmons 16 on 12/27/2012

Kim, about opening the messaging within PartnerUp to people who are not networked, I can make that happen. However, the risk is it makes people who spam more inclined to abuse it, and makes it much easier for them to abuse it (and you). Maybe the solution is to make it easier to network by simplifying that process like Facebook has, for instance, with a single click instead of multiple steps.

Dennis, message me at hilary.cable@deluxe.com and let's talk about your limit. I see you're fairly new to PartnerUp, so let's chat.

That makes sense. However, is there something that we can do to let others know about scammers on the boards? Myself and a few others have posted right at the scammers posts when we find out who they really are, but many have multiple posts (under the same name) and if nothing was said there, others would not be aware. It would be really neat to be able to come up with a way to make this site reasonably safe while being able to keep it free. The scammers are coming out of the woodwork here lately, and it seems like there should be something we can come up with so we can warn each other. - Kim Pezza 86 on 1/9/2012

Hi Kim: The best thing to do is email me, hilary.cable@deluxe.com, or support@partnerup.com, and report the person. Give me a link to the post and we'll investigate. The other option is using the Mark as Spam button on the post. Direct e-mail is more direct. - Hilary Cable 426 on 2/2/2012

Would be nice if we could delete our own posts. Also when I hit the back button after making a post, it tends to want to repost the same thing I just said with no option to delete it.

Being able to insert youtube clips would also be a good feature.

DONE! You should see a "delete" link on everything you post, now. Thanks for the great suggestions! - Hilary Cable 426 on 3/19/2012

Hi Nathan: You can add YouTube clips to posts by copying the link from your YouTube browser window and pasting it in your post. The "share" link provided by YouTube will take people to the page, but doesn't give a preview in your post.

I just sent a message to my IT advisers to see if we can arrange for a delete button. Everybody puts things online they want to remove, so I understand. In the mean time, if you have a post you want to remove, send me a link and I can do that for you. hilary.cable@deluxe.com

Hi Buhle:

Our intent is to serve North America, but you are welcome to use the forums: post questions, get advice and give advice. We're not set up for international addresses, so features like the Small Biz Showcase and opportunities outside North America won't function correctly. I hope that helps! Thanks for joining and we're looking forward to hearing from you.

It is hurting to see that some people are replying to forums with only one intention of promoting their website. I request the moderators to check and warn them. This is interrupting the fun and the help we get from this website.

Thanks,
William

Here are two things that would help improve the Partnerup site:

1) Require more information in the profiles. Far too many profiles are almost completely empty. Or they link to very fake looking facebook page with cutesy pictures and almost nothing real.

2) Require all posts to be approved by moderator before going live. This is time consuming, but leads to much better quality. The moderator does not have to research everything in the post. Just make sure the post has SOMETHING to do with the forum topic, is not simply blatant advertising for an unrelated product or service, and does not violate the rules of the site for other reasons.

I am tired of reading posts that are completely useless and irrelevant. I am not expecting everyone to contribute brilliant insights in every post, but the quality of many of the posts is ridiculously low.

The fact is there are some very good posts in Partnerup, and there are some people who are sincerely looking to get help or looking to give help. But the lack of quality control is hurting the site. It only takes a few bad apples to spoil the barrel, but when 50% of the apples are bad, the barrel just rots from the inside out.

Would it be possible that there could be a seperate forum started for VERIFIED Investors seeking Valid opportunities to INVEST? _ have scanned and read through almost ALL the "Looking for..." posts (and the person posting about the quality level in there has something) and it really seems that there are no Valid, Verified Investors. Case in point: "Mr." Johnson Howard. This Bozo got outed as a fake/spammer and has since deleted his profile. We say 'Hell Yes, Buh bye and good riddance.' ANY ACTUAL Investor seriously looking for a business to invest IN should be validated on the upfront by PartnerUp staff. If I'm wrong here, please let me know.
Many of us on here seeking investors simply dont have time nor resources, to get led astray by fake profiles and corporate sales ads simply looking to take our money for a "maybe."
That being said, when I found this site, I was very excited to become a part of what I thought was going to be an opportunity to realize my dreams in running with my business idea. So far, this dream is going unfulfilled. Sad, yes?
So... We business entrepaneurs would like to see maybe a "Private Investor" (and these people IF they are serious should be verified as capable and willing on the UPFRONT) Forum that WE entrapeneurs can peruse and check on our own volition. I'm thinking kinda like being able to approach The Shark Tank. I Believe it would open up a whole new avenue of investment and opportunities for the Website itself to grow.
Thank you for our time and attention,
Respectfully,
David G.
Post Script:
If there is ANY opportunity unrealized here for ME to secure a telecommuting position (as stated above regarding the verification staff) with the company (PartnerUp.com) I am in DIRE need of employment and income. Thank you again.

Hi Hilary,
Im excited to find this topic as I have always been a fan of the PartnerUp community (member since '09) but stop using the site because after all the changes PartnerUp made, as a user, I was getting confused on how to use the site, and how to find what it is that I was truly looking for.

I logged on today because I am in need of a creative outlet to bounce ideas and always loved helping other entrepreneurs.

1) I AM SOOOO GLAD PartnerUP is addressing the spammers/MLMs, etc.

2) I agree with David G. And Andrew Clarke from above- is there a way to have an area for "verified" people, for people who have complete profiles and are really seeking/wanting assistance on ideas/concepts/funding, etc. -people who are trying to network with people for chat/email to help/mentor them along.

3) I find it discouraging when there a 1000 pitches/ sales presentations/etc everywhere but a lack of persons really interested in a mutual professional relationship to help each other.

4) I think it needs to be emphasized somehow that most members on the site are NOT looking to be recruited/ or sold to on something- if there is a forum category to pitch-fine, but if people want assistance on THEIR idea, other members should not try to sell them something else.- its a waste of time and effort.

Possible Growth Area(s)
1) I like the Shark Tank idea David mentioned above, where people can share their idea and others can give their opinions-like the ahhha site but better
2) Maybe having a virtual startup weekend are where people can form groups and develop concepts online together-like Startup Weekend but online.
3) Provide better incentives for members to want to fill out their profile and participate in addition to the points, like user testimonial feature (similar to linked in- or integrated into linked in) and rankings/roles/and/or some sort of verification system.

Long post but I am really interested in this site growing and getting better, and much needed for many people.

The biggest thing PartnerUp can do help us for the remainder of 2012 and beyond is to get more active and aggressive moderators. This place is full of spam! Take note. 2 of the most respected, well known, and longest running forums are Web Master World and Search Engine Land. They got that way because they enforce their spam rules. PartnerUp needs to do the same and bad.
