Born in Norway, Kjell Qvale moved to America with his family at a young age. Before Kjell Qvale joined the Navy during WWII, he excelled in athletics, academics, and business in high school and college. Kjell Qvale was a champion runner and skier, earning him a scholarship to attend the University of Washington.
