I am in the process of starting a line of fashions. I would like to work with a local designer where I can learn the business. I am looking for Washington DC designers who have openings or volunteer positions. I have not worked in the industry but I have always designed. Can you direct me to local Washington DC designers?

Hi Deborah,
A favorite job site in DC is www.idealist.org and http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/. Both have jobs, internships, volunteer opportunities - importantly there listings constantly change, particularly Craigslist. Also both have listings of organizations from which you can then go to their websites to see what other opportunities they have. Try different search terms in idealist.org and be certain to set the search to the DC metro area, not just DC.
I know it is not exactly the list you wanted but it is work a shot; I know many people who have found unique opportunities using both.
