Adam Brager posted a new question on 7/14/2009

Where can I find an investor for my new product I need capitol for?

I developed a product for Davison engineering in Pittsburg and all the pre development work is done. Now its time to move on to the design stage for a company they are going to target with my design and are going to fit it into the corporations production line. I have till July 20th to come up with $14,540.00 and it will be a ninety twenty split between me and Davison but I am willing to pay anyone interested to pay back the Capitol by giving them twenty percent so now it would be seventy twenty and ten percent to Davison. I only have a short amount of time so if anyone is interested please reach me my name is Adam Brager 2102 17th St. S. Fargo, ND 58103 and you can call me at 1-701-491-0184. This is my cell phone. I know this is going to work out. I feel it in my bones and I feel it in my heart, as long as I can come up with the initial Capitol. I work shift work for 11.00 an hr so this is why I do not have the Capitol. I am twenty years old and I have the mind of an Entrapraneur and I can tell who ever invests in me I am happy to say your future and mine looks bright!

Adam, you might want to talk with an intellectual property attorney or a general business attorney with knowledge of licensing and investment agreements. You see, if you developed the product as an employee or independent contractor of Davison, they may well own the rights to it under the "work made for hire" section of US patent laws. If that's true, you probably want to get YOUR rights cleared with Davison before you "sell" part of the anticipated profit to a third party!

Overall, this is an unusual enough process to set my teeth on edge.. Most legitimate companies make sure that a product (1) has a patent or is moving smoothly along towards one and (2) any licensing agreements with the "developer" are signed and tucked away before they move into manufacturing.

Where are you in that process?
