I have been a business owner for 4+ years. I opened a new business in June 2008 just before everything went bust. I have used all my revenue reserves and the drop in business is making it difficult to impossible to pay my bills. I cannot pay both payroll and rent. What do I do?

Carol-
Was the business profitable at any point in the past two years? If the answer is yes, then this is the situation for which ARC loans were created - part of the current stimulus package.
I dont know what banks in your area participate, but I would bring your financial statements with you to your local SCORE office and seek more direction.
Good luck,
Michael

HI Carol,
Also if you have receivables, you may be able to use 'receivables factoring' to obtain obtain a working capital loan. This is commonly used by businesses that carry large outstanding receivable and need cash now.
In addition to Michael's answer there are a number of other SBA guarantee loan products such as the Community Express loan - BUT do not accept any more debt than you can handle. As Michael said, contact your local SCORE office and there are counselors who can sit down with you for free to help you. Find your local SCORE office at www.score.org, and type your zip code in the Find SCORE box, click and up will pop the local offices - fill out that office's request for counseling form and they will have someone contact you.
