Start by understanding not only the key competitors in this industry but also how card are sold and distributed. That distribution channel will be key to the success of your business.

And of course you need a business plan. A plan helps you understand all the steps you need to take to make this businesses a success. Go to www.bplans.com and search for 'cards'. You will find a number of sample plans that may help you grasp all aspects you need to understand about this business. read a few and while they will not be exactly what yo want to do it will help with the breadth and depth you need to know.
Also SCORE can help- there are local offices with counselors who will sit down with you to help walk you though the development of your plan and business. see; www.score.org and use the find SCORE option to find that local office.
