Oregon,

To be successful your promotional plan should be part of an overall marketing plan. All your communications need to be focused on your target market or those most likely to buy. If your focus is on couples or consumers who have attended both schools, it may be a small market. I don't know.

You have a website. A free way to promote is to have your URL on business cards, letterhead, signature block on email, advertisements etc. I find "Web Marketing for Dummies" by Jan Zimmerman is a good reference for low cost online marketing ideas. You might check your library or local book store for a copy. Here are a couple of suggestions:
- collect email addresses for an opt-in email campaign from your online sales
- include a link to easily allow a visitor to send your web address to a friend.

It would seem sporting events where the two schools meet, would be your "Super Bowl opportunity to communicate to your target market. Attractive outgoing students dressed in your product distributing a promotional piece would raise awareness at a fairly low price. Maybe a campus bookstore would stock and display your product for two weeks or a month time period that coincided with the University of Oregon & Oregon State football game.

Lastly newspapers are hungry for interesting local stories. Try to wrangle an article from the business editor in Portland, Eugene & Salem etc. to talk about how you started etc. It will take your time but it is basically free.

Good luck. Ra

I will suggest -- go online..
people in this generation will prefer browsing in internet rather than looking into newspapers..

get a good website and market it nicely.. it will definitely work...

Just for stats - facebook has achieved number of users in 2 years which are more than that what newspapers has achieved in 50 years..

we can work with you for your web presence..

thanks
