I have a "coming soon" website going live soon. I plan on driving traffic to the site using Google AdWords and web analytics to get an idea of
1. Who is interested in my web application idea;
2. How big the market is;
3. How "valuable" my web application might be to them both in terms on price and usability. In other words, to find the customer's "need" rather than their "want"
The website visitors will be able to enter their email addresses in order to get updates in a newsletter form. I might also ask them to fill out a very short survey.
Other than this form of market research, what are some other inexpensive options for doing market research? Are their any market research firms that you can recommend? I think firms like Forrester Research are too expensive for me at this point. I'm looking to spend no more than $5000.
