What is a rough estimate to create a prototype for a small iPhone accessory?

Looking to create an iPhone accessory and I am starting from scratch. I need to develop the "blueprint" for the accessory to bring to a manufacturing company in China. I also need to find an engineer to develop the "blueprint." What is a rough estimate of costs I will incur moving forward with this project?
