My business formation isn't recognized by the CA State Lic. Board, how can I attach our contractors license to our business now?

My husband and I are creating a design/build business and Im now attempting to attach my husbands existing contractors license to our already formed LLC business. Since my husband was previously working as a sole proprietor we need to change the name and business formation on the license. I just received startling news that The Contractors State License Board doesn't recognize LLCs but only recognizes corporations and sole proprietorship. I have already put a lot of work into creating the LLC last year and feel that it is the best business formation for us. I don't know what my options are or where to go from here. What do I do now?
