Requesting help with promoting online jewelry biz with social media.

I am launching an online handcrafted jewelry shop. I plan to sell to retailers as well. I need help with how to utilize social media. I have an advertisng, marketing, pr background so I am not clueless, however technology has advanced so much since I left school! I am also interested in hearing your ideas on other creative methods of promoting an online and wholesale jewelry
business. I have already started writing my own press releases for fashion publications. Any other ideas?

A number of suggestions - first in this website there are several forums where you can not only read the older posts to get answers to your questions but join in and ask for help. So look for the social media forums as well as the ones on marketing.

Secondly all the social media sites have excellent tutorials, help guides and examples of use. So see:

http://forum.developers.facebook.net/
and
http://www.facebook.com/platform#!/platform?v=wall (and look at the examples, benefits, etc tabs)
plus facebook has narrowly targeted groups to which you can market.

and Linkedin and others have similar pages.

More and more businesses are building with social media; hope your will be one of them.
