In late 2008 NYCs most popular indoor weekend flea market - the Antiques Garage - will lose its space - 2 floors of a parking garage in Chelsea.
I would like to reopen - upgrade - expand the market in a new venue. The right location - facility - amenities can transform the market into one the NYCs destination spots. Located in one of several downtown neighborhoods currently undergoing development - revitalization the new market will attract a larger vendor pool - increase revenues- accommodate a wider range of offerings exs. gallery space - cafe, etc.- provide employment opportunities for young people and other entry level job seekers; complement neighborhood cultural and business enterprises.
