| Job Description | Summary:
The Trade Development department is the sales force for the client. It is constantly seeking new business. Deals are made in this office that brings international contracts and millions of dollars in economic input to the region. The main focus for this department will be sealing overseas deals and marketing maritime tenants. The person will help secure business with big name auto, shipping, cargo companies etc. In addition, the department seeks new business for maritime tenants and the stevedoring companies that are responsible for loading and unloading cargo. As General Manager, Trade Development, you may from time to time attend industry meetings and trade shows and helps organize trade missions. One of the main challenges of this position is to educate potential customers about the company throughout the United States, Latin America, Asia and Europe are making them aware of the facilities, capabilities and experience. |
| Skills & Requirements | • Degree in Logistics, Maritime or Transportation Management or relevant study.
• Minimum 5 - 8 years' sales experience in Freight (Sea/Air) industry and at least 5 years of background experience in business development for the transportation industry. • Prior experience in leading freight forwarding, shipping, carriers industry involving trade route management or key account management. • Prior experience working on departmental budgets for busy trade development department is required. • Ability to develop working relationship with department managers to ensure all needs are being met in priority order. • Demonstrated ability to supervise daily activities of staff and be accountable for their performance including the allocation of work and monitoring or productivity. • Good knowledge of ocean freight products and in-depth knowledge of carrier's functions. • Acquired knowledge in general shipping matters (eg. documentation, claims, clearance, etc). • Basic Logistics/Supply Chain Management knowledge is a bonus. • Dynamic, goal oriented and performance focused with belief of commitment to excel. • Customer oriented with good people skills and able to work with people at all levels. • Good interpersonal, communication, presentation and influencing skills. • Good ability to analyze problems effectively and find best solutions. • Good planning and organizing, analytical and problem solving skills. • Ability to communicate in different dialects or foreign languages is an added advantage.
